Similarities seen in festival, County Fair

El Paso County Fair Queen Brenna Harfert was among those attending Territory Days. The 19-year-old Peyton resident said the festival is similar to the County Fair in Calhan (July 24-31 this year) by presenting a sense of the Old West and providing a “great community event for everyone to get together.”
People don't have to live on a ranch, such as the one where she grew up in Peyton (with her parents, Lori and Terry), to participate in the County Fair, Brenna noted. In an urban area, such as the Westside, kids can raise smaller animals to enter in the competition, or create a variety of “table-top” projects, such as quilting. “4-H is not about kids in the country,” Brenna summarized.
Her own 4-H background is mainly with goats and horses - showing the former and riding the latter with the Rangerette precision horse-riding group.
