Hundreds to cycle through the dark for 20th annual Starlight Spectacular

The Trails and Open Space Coalition is taking signups for its 20th annual Starlight Spectacular cycling event Saturday, June 14, starting at 10:30 p.m. from the Garden of the Gods Visitor and Nature Center.
The non-competitive nighttime ride offers loops of 14, 17 or 22 miles, taking cyclists through old Colorado City, Colorado Springs and Garden of the Gods before finishing back at the Visitor Center.
Trails Coalition Director Susan Davies described the event as “family friendly,” with “rest stops along the way [and] breakfast at the end of the ride.”
The event is a fundraiser for the Westside-based nonprofit group, which supports open space, trails, bikeways and greenways in the Pikes Peak region. Close to 1,500 riders are expected to participate.
The cost is $45 a person (with discounts for children, seniors, families or military).
Helmets are required for the ride, as are lights, both front and rear.
Pre-ride festivities will start at 9 p.m., featuring a live band.
