Former Springs cop to tell history of city police force in Posse event June 13

Dwight Haverkorn, formerly with the Colorado Springs Police Department, will delve into the agency's past at the Monday, June 13 gathering of the Pikes Peak Posse of the Westerners.
       Titled “History of the Colorado Springs Police Department,” the program will begin at 6 p.m. in the Colorado Springs Masonic Hall, 1130 Panorama Drive.
       Admission is $17, which includes a casual, buffet style dinner before the presentation. Reservations are requested in advance at 473-0330 or posse@dewittenterprises.com.
       Haverkorn has spent nearly two decades researching homicides in the Pikes Peak region and is also compiling a history of the department from 1872 to the present, a press release states. “His talk will include a discussion of the gangs coming to Colorado Springs and other historical notes,” the release elaborates.
