Garden Visitor Center reveals summer programs

       The Garden of the Gods Visitor & Nature Center, 1805 N. 30th St., has announced guided-walk programs for June, July and August.
       Free and open to the public, each lasts about an hour, with people meeting in the Red Rocks Room, unless stated otherwise.
       The programs are as follows:
  • Bat Walk: Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m., beginning June 16 (reservations required at 219-0108).
  • Wildlife Watch: Mondays at 6:30 p.m., June 8 and 29, July 6 and 20, and Aug. 3. Led by Jeremy and Silvia Agnew with the Division of Wildlife.
  • Insect Walk: Tuesdays at 9 a.m., June 16, July 21 and Aug. 18. Led by Garden of the Gods program coordinator Bret Tennis.
  • Geology Walk (Perkins Trail/Central Garden Zone): Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m., June 2, July 7 and Aug. 11. Led by geologist Jay Temple. Meet at the north main parking lot trailhead.
  • Photography Walk: Wednesdays 5 p.m., June 10 and 24, July 8 and 22, and Aug. 12 and 26. Led by scenic photographer and artist Paul deBerjeois.
  • Wildflower Walk: Thursdays 9 a.m., June 18, July 23 and Aug. 13; and Thursdays 1 p.m., June 25, July 30 and Aug. 20. Led by master gardener Suzanne Jarvinen.
  • Geology Walk (Ridge Trail): Thursdays 6:30 p.m., June 11, July 16 and Aug. 13. Led by interpreter Beverly Cellini.
  • Bird Walk: Saturdays 8 a.m., May 30, June 27 and July 25. Led by birding expert Mark Pleimann.
  • Bird Walk: Saturdays 8 a.m., June 20, July 18 and Aug. 15. Led by a member of the American Birding Association. Meet in the Visitor Center parking lot.
           Continuing summer programs that started in May are the prairie falcon walks on Wednesdays at 4:30 (originally 4) p.m. - meet at the north main parking lot trailhead - and the Magpie Players historical enactments Thursdays at 4:45 p.m. in the Red Rocks Room.
