Not too late for summer school on Westside

       Enrollments for District 11 summer school classes will be accepted up to the first day of classes, according to District 11 spokesperson Judy McIntire.
       Classes for Westside elementary school students will be at Buena Vista, Jackson and Washington, while middle school classes will be at Holmes.
       Each of these schools is “hosting” one or more other Westside schools, meaning students from those schools can ride a bus from their home school to the host school for the classes.
       Following are the host schools (with hosted schools in parentheses).
       - Buena Vista (Howbert).
       - Jackson (Chipeta and Trailblazer).
       - Washington (Bristol, Midland, Pike and Whittier).
       - Holmes (West).
       Class categories are:
       Summer Literacy Institutes (students entering grades 1-5) - classes to improve reading, writing and math skills. June 1- July 2, 8 a.m.-12 noon. Cost - $60. Contact any D-11 elementary school.
       Summer Literacy Institutes (students entering grades 6-8) - classes are to improve reading, writing and math skills. June 1-July 2, 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Cost - $60. Contact any D-11 middle school.
        YMCA Adventures in Learning Camp (literacy classes for students entering grades 3-5 in a D-11 Title I school) - includes field trips and swimming. June 1-July 2. Licensed daycare on site 7 a.m. - 6 p.m. Call Washington Elementary, 328- 4800.
       Credit Recovery Courses at Tesla EOP Center (students entering grades 9-12) - classes to catch up on credits or to get ahead. June 14-July 1, 7:30-11:30 a.m. and 12:30-4:30 p.m. Cost - $165 per class. Brochures/applications are available in area high schools.
