Slain officer was ‘79 CHS grad, ‘nice boy’

Donald Young, the 43-year-old Denver police detective who was gunned down in a sneak shooting while off-duty May 8, was a 1979 graduate of Coronado High School.
“He was a Westside kid,” said Old Colorado City businesswoman Judy Kasten, recalling him as a “nice, nice boy, easy-going and affable,” who “palled around through high school” with her son, Joel.
