Donations to Goodwill truck at Coronado May 26-June 7 will improve school's baseball field

A Coronado High game from a previous season is shown at Rogers Field, located at the upper end of the campus. Field improvements are the main goal of a fundraiser with Goodwill, seeking donated items from Westside residents, May 26-June 7.

Donations of “unwanted items” could help the Coronado High baseball team get what it needs.
From May 26 to June 7, a Goodwill Industries truck will set up in the Coronado parking lot, 1590 W. Fillmore St. The truck will be manned on weekdays from 7 to 8 a.m. and 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., and on weekends from 8 a.m. to noon.
According to team supporter Laurel Bumpus, Goodwill has agreed to pay $.01/pound. “That's why we're hoping to fill the truck,” she said.
All potentially reusable items are welcome, except for mattresses.
The team's main goal for the proceeds will be improvements to the Coronado baseball field. “It's been so bad the balls are popping up and the grass is weedy and in bad shape,” Bumpus said. “In addition, we really need new uniforms and spirit wear.”
In a press release, she asks Westsiders, “Are you de-cluttering? Having a garage sale and want to get rid of the items that don't sell? Help Goodwill Industries and the Coronado High School baseball team by donating your unwanted items.”
