Science experiments go with the Territory

In keeping with Territory Days activities going on across the street, the Old Colorado City Branch Library will offer a program called “Old Time Science Experiments” Saturday, May 27 at 1 p.m.
Presented by Science Matters, a group of scientists along the Front Range, the roughly one-hour show will be “a lively and entertaining family program,” according to a library press release.
This will be the second straight year the library has presented an activity in conjunction with the annual Territory Days event over Memorial Day weekend.
“We decided we'd like to do a program during Territory Days every year,” said Dustie Flynn, library branch assistant, who is coordinating “Experiments.”
Science Matters presents regular programs geared for children ages 5 to 11, but agreed to work up some experiments with a historic theme for Territory Days. “They're doing a program just for us,” Flynn said.
The group will also have a booth in the park beforehand, presenting “teaser” experiments to let Territory Days attendees know about the library event, she added.
