City to come back to 21st and Colorado
The city has not forgotten the intersection of 21st Street and Colorado Avenue.
This winter, street crews repaired a leaking storm sewer pipe on 21st, south of Colorado, which required removal of the old curb along the west side of 21st down to the alley. Temporary pavement covers the work area, but City Engineering is finalizing plans to return to the site in June and complete the job.
The completion will have an improvement twist, in that the southwest corner will be made more rounded (to aid right turns), and the location of the new curb will give the street about a foot and a half greater width before tapering down to the alley, according to Mike Chaves, senior civil engineer.
