Meet a Westsider:
I am an entrepreneur. I sell my crochet and I dog-sit. I also volunteer at the
Old Colorado City Welcome Center.
What I like most about the Westside is... I like the Westside because it's a community where people look out for each other. I enjoyed the picnic that the Organization of Westside
If I could change anything about the Westside, it would be...the Number 16 bus that runs to Uintah Gardens. I would change it from every hour to every half-hour and also run it on Saturdays.
A good movie I've seen recently is... “Off Season.” I like the movie because it was family-oriented. How kids behave when no one believes them.
The worst advice I’ve ever gotten was... to burn the photo of my fiancee who had died in a car accident. It was well-intentioned but I’ve regretted it.
If I could meet someone famous, I'd like to meet... I would like to meet the Queen of England. She doesn’t take any nonsense and sticks to her principles. She’s lived a long and healthy life. She is a trooper.
The next time I travel, I'm going to... New York to visit my cousin who lives in Schenectady (I moved to the U.S. in 1989 when I was 34 and lived in Brooklyn for three years). We’ll travel to New York City to go shopping for market products from Trinidad, West Indies, where I was born. We’ll also visit the Empire State building and the Statue of Liberty.
My favorite childhood memory is... getting ready for Christmas day with my family in Trinidad. We would clean and decorate the house, buy lots of food, make bread and cakes and have families over to sing and dance Spanish songs. I didn’t know Spanish, but the music was exhilarating.
My favorite summer pastime is... I enjoy selling my crochet items every Saturday at the Old Colorado City History Center craft show. I love to meet people, visit with friends and buy fresh fruit, vegetables and treat myself to my favorite almond croissants.
Something good I've read is...“Gone Crazy,” by Shannon Hill. It’s a murder mystery.
My pet peeve is... outside people coming and vandalizing people’s cars and property.
If I won the lottery… I would first pay my tithes because I love the Lord, and then I would really like to bless my true friends who were there for me when I was down and out.
