Homeschoolers to national science tourney
By taking second place in the B Division (junior high and middle school competition) at the recent statewide Science Olympiad tournament, the Homeschool Science Colorado (HSC) team earned a trip to the 120-team national Science Olympiad Tournament in Dayton, Ohio, Friday, May 17.
HSC is a team of home-educated students primarily from El Paso and Teller counties, which includes students from the Westside.
HSC was one of nearly 60 teams competing in the state event April 20 at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden.
AACL Greek festival
The Academy for Advanced and Creative Learning will have a Greek-themed Spring Festival
Friday, May 17 from 6 to 8:15 p.m.
Free and open to the public, activities will feature an adaptation of “The Odyssey” by grades 7-8 (starting at 7 p.m.), an all-school art exhibition titled “The Odyssey of Art” and a bake sale by the parent organization, which will include Greek food.
Started in 2010, Academy ACL is a K-8 charter school for gifted students, located at the former Pike site, 2510 N. Chestnut St.
