Coronado High School to graduate close to 290 at ceremony May 19
The probable number is 286, according to the school's Registrar's Office, depending on final credits that some students will need to make up by August. The number is a bit lower than the last two years, both of which were around 320.
The event will include speeches by students - Teresa Jaron, valedictorian; Elinor Kuykendall, salutatorian; Quentin Baker, senior class speaker; and T.J. Archdale, president, student cabinet.
District 11 dignitaries scheduled to be on hand include six members of the Board of Education (LuAnn Long, president; Elaine Naleski, vice president; Jim Mason, secretary; Nora Brown, treasurer; and Linda Mojer, and Bob Null, directors); Dr. Nicholas Gledich, superintendent; and Dr. Mary Thurman, deputy superintendent for personnel support services.
The Coronado school administrators are Darin Smith, the principal, completing his first year; Addie Arnell and David DuBois, assistant principals; Dave Howard, athletic director/business manager; Sergio de Lourenco, dean of students; and Amos Velasquez, drop-out prevention specialist.
Retirees are Howard; Buddy Hardwicke, social studies teacher; Susan March, art teacher; Suzanne Perini, special education teacher; and Lynne Ruttum, english teacher.
The student cabinet consisted of Archdale; Sarah Gerson, vice president; Barbara (Basia) Kania, treasurer; Kaitlyn Enright, chair of council; Holly Warren, secretary of records; Lauren Hancock, social and morale; Madison Quintana, secretary of publicity; and Liam Aubrey, secretary of communication.
Performing at the ceremony will be the Coronado High School Jazz Band I, directed by Alan Combs: the Coronado Orchestra, directed by Paul Jacobson; and the Coronado Shomber Choir, directed by Jeffery Hodur.
