Midland Elementary, 2110 W. Broadway Street, which offers an all-school International Baccalaureate magnet program, will present its annual Fifth Grade Exhibition Thursday, May 11. Presentations for parents and the public will be from 3 to 4 p.m.
Old photos of Buena Vista Elementary are being sought in preparation for the school's 95th anniversary celebration, scheduled Oct. 11. School staff would also like to hear from former students or staff members. Call Donna Lang in the Buena Vista office at 328-4100.
Two students from Coronado High placed in the recent SkillsUSA regional competition for students enrolled in technical, skilled and service programs. Jo Weyhrauch placed first in prepared speech, and Bryce Dean was second in welding.
For the second year, Howbert Elementary offered a Spring Festival of the Arts April 27.
Music direction was provided by Katherine Kennedy and Linda Johnson. And, each student from preschool to grade 5 had at least one piece of art work displayed on the school walls.
Art teacher Loretta Ramirez, who oversaw the latter effort, also led the hands-on art activities that were offered during the evening.
The festival is affiliated with the area's ongoing Imagination Celebration event.
