Fire history and Old Town’s legacy

Retired Colorado Springs firefighter and historian Ray Turner (right) shared some of his research and experience in a presentation at the Old Colorado City History Center April 14. In his talk, he noted that Colorado City firemen helped battle the famous Antlers Fire of 1898 in downtown Colorado Springs. The plaque (left) of appreciation was presented by then-Colorado Springs Mayor M.B. Irvine to the Colorado City Fire Department. It is on display at the city Fire Museum, 375 Printers Parkway.
