Openings scheduled at Calabash, Elements galleries

       An opening for fiber artist Maureen Sagan Cortes of New York will be Friday, May 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Calabash Gallery, 2428 W. Colorado Ave. Cortes, who has also exhibited in Santa Fe, creates accessories, including hats, purses, necklaces, scarves, belts and other garments.
       A reception for fiber artists Anne Astrella Buel and Liz Jensen will be Friday, May 12 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Elements Art Gallery, 2616 W. Colorado Ave. #1. Liz does fabric items such as placemats, knapkins, purses and clothing. Anne does wall art in fiber, paper and canvas.
       Greccio Housing, 1808 W. Colorado Ave., is planning fund-raisers in the coming months to help it continue to provide affordable housing rentals.
       The first fund-raiser will be Friday, May 12. Tickets are being sold for an evening at the art gallery at the Plantera Group offices, 731 North Weber St.
       In July or August, Greccio will hold its annual Craft and Yard Sale in the parking lot of Greccio Housing. Donations of items are welcome.

       Jin's Gifts recently opened at 2616 W. Colorado Ave #5. The owners are Bill & Jin Young.
