West Campus seeks community support for May 13 Walk-A-Thon fundraiser

A “Walk-A-Thon” to raise money for the West Campus is scheduled at the school Friday, May 13 from 9 to 9:30 a.m.
The campus consists of West Elementary and Middle School (cumulatively grades K-8), in the 1900 block of West Pikes Peak Avenue.
“This is our primary fundraiser for the school year,” states a press release from the recently formed West Campus PTA. “One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to the school.”
During the event, “students, teachers and staff, as well as interested parents and community members, will walk continuously around the school grounds. A sea of purple and god shirts, banners, and an abundance of kid enthusiasm will make for a picturesque community event.”
The release adds that “students will keep track of each lap, noting how many they can make within the half-hour time. Many local businesses have provided prizes that will be awarded to students raising the most donations.”
The money that's raised “will help fund classroom grants, fun projects, special events, guest speakers and other great programs to help us make our West Campus an even more hands-on and engaging place to learn,” the release also states.
For more information, call PTA President Jessica Thompson at 359-6966 or e-mail her 2unation@gmail.com . The school phone is 328-3900.
