Opening May 12 for new interactive center at Space Foundation

       An interactive area, created by the Lockheed Martin Space Education Center, will open at the Space Foundation Tuesday, May 12.
       Intended to “spark the imagination of future space explorers, this interactive center will place breakthrough technology and exploratory learning activities directly in the hands of 8,000 students and educators annually,” a press release states.
       Offerings will include simulated launch operations, virtual reality and robotic rover programming, with the goal of advancing science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education, the release adds.
       The two-hour opening event May 12 will start at 5 p.m. with opportunities to tour the new center. From 5:30 to 6 p.m. will be remarks by Lockheed Martin representatives. A one-hour reception in the El Pomar Space Gallery will conclude festivities.
