ArtWalk in Old Town May 4

       ArtWalk in Old Colorado City will be back Friday, May 4, with 17 participating galleries or shops along Colorado Avenue between 24th and 27th streets.
       The monthly, free self-guided walking tour will be from 5 to 8 p.m.
       Scheduled the first Friday of the month, the event will continue monthly through December. In addition to art displays, ArtWalk stores typically offer art openings, demonstrations, music and/or refreshments.
       Announced events for May 4:
       Arati Artists Gallery, will open “Splashes of Color,” a month-long show featuring new gallery members, painters Barb McAdams and Kris Storey.
       A reception for abstract artist Holly Parker Dearborn will be at the Earthen Artisan House, 2611 W. Colorado Ave.

       Hotrod shop opening
       A hotrod shop is set to open May 1, featuring race car builder Matt Clark, who grew up on the Westside.
       Clarks Metal and Speed is located at 106 S. Chestnut St.
       Business services will include custom metal fabrication, part installation, body repairs and modifications, motorcycle services and “free advice for do-it-yourself projects,” the Clarks state in an e-mail.
       Among the retail items in the shop will be apparel, parts and components, gift items, tools and devices, magazines and hard parts.
       Clark owns the business with his wife CJ, who is the business manager.
       The two have been in southern California in recent years, working in different shops, and helping build race cars. Before leaving the Westside, he had worked with Gene Pacheco on Gary Lee Kanawyer's Pikes Peak International Hill Climb car.
       “Matt loves his local community and is looking forward to providing quality services with utmost integrity,” according to CJ.

       Pilates day also May 5
       May 5 is best known as Cinco de Mayo, but Trish Doyle-Stahl would like people to recall that it's also National Pilates Day.
       As such, the owner of ReVibe Pilates & Bodywork, 2150 Spectra Drive, is organizing a fundraiser at her business that day for the Women's Resource Agency. Started in Colorado Springs in 1972, the nonprofit helps women “re-enter the workforce and grow personally and professionally,” Doyle said
