Tickets still available for OCCHS’ Victorian Tea and Fashion Show

Helen Hunt Jackson will make an appearance at the third annual Victorian Tea and Victorian Fashion Show at the Old Colorado City History Center Saturday, April 24.
Jackson, a well-respected writer from the early days of Colorado Springs, will be portrayed by local actress/writer/teacher Doris McCraw.
The event will go from 1 to 3 p.m.
The center is at 1 S. 24th St. Admission is $18, with proceeds benefitting the Old Colorado City Historical Society (OCCHS).
The fashion show will be presented by Rita Wilhelm and models wearing “attire from yesteryear,” according to a press release. “Relive memories of 'genteel' times with these historically accurate costumes - from day gowns to formal evening wear,” the release continues.
Attendees will be treated to high tea and finger sandwiches, explained Kay Atteberry, one of the show's coordinators. Each person will receive a “favor”; in addition, there will be a table prize for each of the eight tables and 22 door prizes.
According to McCraw, Jackson was a quiet, outdoorsy woman who wrote children's stories, a popular novel (“Ramona”) and an insightful look at Indian relations (“A Century of Dishonor”).
Tickets need to be purchased in advance. For more information, call the OCCHS at 636-1225.
