Westside schools: Coronado student wins drafting competition

       Jason Palo La Costa (Junior) and Kevin Wilson of Coronado High won first and third places, respectively, in the CAD division of the recent 9th annual CAD/Design/Drafting Competition, sponsored by the National Association of Women in Construction (AWIC) and Classic Homes.
       La Costa's drawings were forwarded to Salt Lake City, Utah for regional competition Saturday, April 22. Winners from regional will then compete at the National competition in May.
       In the competition, area high school students had the chance to design a bandshell and park for an imaginary city council. Judges were local professionals in construction industry.
       The following Westside students won or placed in the recent judging for the Colorado State PTA Reflections competition:
       Literature - Grades 6-8, Megan Flynn, Holmes, gold medal.
       Musical composition - Grades 9-12, Leigh Gathings, Coronado, silver medal.
       Visual Arts - Grades 6-8, Andrew Darress, Holmes, silver medal.
