Schedule provided for Garden/ Rock Ledge Earth Day events
Below are the schedules for the Earth Day/Arbor Day activities at the neighboring Garden of the Gods Visitor Center and Rock Ledge Ranch Saturday, April 22.
9 a.m. - Park clean-up (sign up at Visitor Center at 8:30 a.m.).
9 a.m.- Arbor Day Ceremony followed by Historic Orchard Tree Planting.
10 a.m.-2 p.m. - arts and crafts for kids (ongoing).
10 a.m.-2 p.m. - nature walks on the hour.
10 a.m.-noon - USAFA cadet with live prairie falcon mascot.
11 a.m. - chemical magic show.
11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. & 1:30 p.m. - Sweet Water American Indian Dancers.
Noon-2 p.m. - Live Birds of Prey from Raptor Center of Pueblo.
2 p.m. - Fort Carson Mounted Color Guard.
All day - El Paso County Search & Rescue, Peterson Field Fire Department Safe House.

Note: A Garden of the Gods erosion-control workday, through the Rocky Mountain Field Institute (RMFI), had also been advertised as part of the Earth Day activities. No more volunteers are needed for that project. However, people are encouraged to register for ensuing RMFI workdays at the Garden, including Sunday, April 23. The phone is 471-7736.
