Meet a Westsider:
Retired. I was a clerk at Teddy’s Hallmark for 15 years.
What I like most about the Westside is... the friendly people and the closeness of the community.
If I could change anything about the Westside, it would be... to have less traffic; otherwise, I like it just the way it is.
A good movie I’ve seen recently is... “The Staircase Murders,” a made-for-TV movie; and I also like the movies on the Lifetime movie channel.
The worst advice I’ve ever gotten was... from a guidance counselor. She told me to brush up on my shorthand. The choices then were either to be a secretary, nurse or childcare worker. I didn’t think it was fair. I was interested in doing window displays. I had taken a few courses in high school and received good grades and wanted to pursue it as a career. It wasn’t offered. I eventually got the chance when I worked at Teddy’s and really enjoyed it.
If I could meet someone famous, I’d like to meet... St. Francis of Assisi because of his love of all animals.
The next time I travel, I’m going to... Rome, Italy. I want to see if I have any relatives that might still be there.
My favorite childhood memory is... sitting in a peach tree and playing with my friends. We lived near the Gold Hill area and I also remember playing in the creek, catching tadpoles and just having fun.
My favorite spring pastime is... camping in our motorhome.
Something good I’ve read is.. “The Da Vinci Code,” by Dan Brown. I also saw the movie, but thought the idea was a little far-fetched.
My pet peeve is... salespeople that call at odd hours (like at dinner time).
If I won the lottery, I’d... share with my family.
