Coronado Robotics gains 3 awards

Six months of extracurricular engineering efforts by 53 Coronado High School students came to a head March 27-28 at the FIRST Robotics regional competition at Denver University.
The Coronado students received three awards for their efforts in the 40-school event - the Entrepreneurship Award for their “comprehensive business plan,” the Excellence in Design Award for “compelling evidence of excellence in design development” and the Industrial Safety Award for “using innovative ways to eliminate or protect against hazards.”
Nicknamed Cougars Gone Wired, the team had been meeting since October. It was the second year that Coronado students have participated in the Denver regionals. Last year's team took first place at the event.
