Turner to discuss Springs Fire Department history April 14

       Ray Turner, a Colorado Springs firefighter for 29 years, will give an illustrated talk, titled “The History of the Colorado Springs Fire Department,” Friday, April 14.
       The free presentation will begin at 11 a.m. in the Old Colorado City History Center, 1 S. 24th St.
       According to a press release from the Old Colorado City Historical Society (OCCHS), which operates the center, “Turner will illustrate his talk with many historic photos, including (some from) the earliest days of the fire department which began in Old Colorado City.”
       The History Center will open at 10 a.m. for coffee and a chance to look through the museum exhibits.
       On an ongoing basis, the center is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. There is no charge, but donations are accepted. For more information, call 636-1225.
