English setting of ‘Secret’ honors Dickens
The Simpich Showcase Theatre, 2413 West Colorado Ave., will present “The Secret Garden” April 11 to June 16.
The play uses string puppets hand-carved by solo performer David Simpich. Simpich developed the play (based on the novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett), in 2002, touring with it nationally for over a year.
A press release adds that “the classic English setting of 'The Secret Garden' was chosen for the 2012 spring season to complement the upcoming Dickens Festival which Simpich Showcase will host for the summer season in honor of Charles Dickens' 200th birthday.”
