West seeks exchange-student hosts; RMFI, ITC set work schedules

       The West Intergenerational Center is partnering in an effort to bring 25 French exchange students to Colorado Springs July 5-26. Host families are needed for the students, who will be ages 14 to 18.

       The Rocky Mountain Field Institute has released the workday schedule for its 2006 Garden of the Gods Community Restoration Program in conjunction with Colorado Springs Parks. Volunteers are needed on all workdays for erosion-control work in the Spring Canyon area.
       The dates are:
       April 15, 16, 22, 23, 29, 30.
       May 6, 7, 13, 14.
       June 10, 11, 17, 18.
       September 16, 17, 23, 24.
       October 21, 22, 28, 29.
       November 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19.
       December 2, 3, 9, 10.

       The Intemann Trail Committee (ITC), a volunteer trail-building group, has released its monthly workday schedule for the year. The group focuses on the five-mile Intemann Trail above Manitou Springs and the Colorado Springs Westside.
       Volunteers are welcome for all workdays. Pre-registration is not needed.
       The meeting place is Manitou Springs City Hall, 606 Manitou Ave., at 8:30 a.m.
       The dates are:
       Sunday, May 21; Sunday, June 25; Saturday, July 15; Sunday, August 13; Saturday, Sept. 16.

       Docent volunteers are needed at the Bear Creek Nature Center. Openings are for visitor information receptionists and environmental education program leaders. Persons interested in participating in an orientation class Saturday, April 22, from 9 to 11:30 a.m., should contact Paula Megorden at the Nature Center, 520-6388, by April 20.
