Old Town Easter Egg Hunt April 8

Westside youngsters are invited to the ninth annual Easter Egg Hunt in Old Colorado City's Bancroft Park Saturday, April 8.
The free event, in which kids up to age 8 can scour the park for 2,500 plastic eggs containing candy, toys, or notifications of prizes from Old Colorado City merchants, will start at 12:30 p.m.
Also featuring carousel rides for $1, balloon twisting and an appearance by the Easter Bunny, the hunt is organized by the Old Colorado City Associates (OCCA) merchants group. “It's our way of saying thank you to the neighborhood families, to let them know we appreciate their support,” said OCCA Executive Director Nancy Stovall. “We do the same kind of thing with the Safe Treats at Halloween. It's not a fund-raiser for us at all.”
As many as 300 youngsters and their families come to the event. The park is separated to allow two simultaneous hunts - one for ages 4 and under, the other for ages 5 to 8.
Parents be advised: The event starts on time. So people should be there at “12:30 sharp,” Stovall said. For the early birds (or bunnies), the other OCCA-sponsored activities in Bancroft Park will start at about 11:30 a.m.
