Arbor Day at Bear Creek Nature Center

An Arbor Day Celebration is planned at the Bear Creek Nature Center Saturday, April 8, from 10 a.m. to noon.
During the free event, visitors can learn more about the origin of Arbor Day, how to identify native trees, and techniques for successfully planting trees in their own backyards, explained Todd Marts of the Nature Center, 245 Bear Creek Road.
On display will be about 40 student-made posters, representing the statewide winners in a National Arbor Day Poster contest.
Depending on the numbers of people, two or more guided nature walks are planned on the trails near the center. During the hikes, “we'll help people identify trees,” Marts said. “We have quite a few different species.”
No reservations are necessary. For more information, call 520-6399 or 520-6387.
