New tavern proposed at 1201 W. Colorado

Two variances are being sought as part of an effort to open a tavern with an outdoor patio at 1201 W. Colorado Ave. The requests are from Metropo-lis LLC on behalf of Jeff Chevalier, according to Colorado Springs Planning.
One request is for a variance to allow 20 feet of separation from any residentially used or zoned property where 200 feet is required, and the other is to allow 30 parking spaces where 44 are required.
The property is .344-acre, zoned C-5 (intermediate business). The site has previously been home to Westside Auction, Starlight Video and Checker Auto Parts.
Comments are being taken by Sue Matz of City Planning until Monday, April 9. She can be reached at 385-5355.
