Restaurant plans mid-April opening at Hwy 24 & 26th Street

Nearing the end of a redevelopment project that started several months ago, the Garden of the Gods Gourmet in Old Colorado City plans to move in April to the southwest corner of Highway 24 and 26th Street.
The grand opening will be April 12-13, according to manager Lynn Schleymeyer.
At 5,300 square feet, the new site is about twice the size of the current one at 2528 W. Cucharras St.
The location has housed various restaurants for roughly a quarter of a century (most recently Saigon Stars), but remodeling it for Gourmet's needs required extensive work. “We took it down to the rafters,” Schleymeyer said. “It will be a wonderful addition to the Westside.”
The plan is to have a “seamless transition” in which the Cucharras location keeps operating until the new site opens, she said.
Started as an independent enterprise on the Westside about 13 years ago, Garden of the Gods Gourmet is now owned by the Pinery Enterprises.
