Museum 'surprises' on view in April 10 History Center program

“EUREKA - Surprises from our Collection Department” is the title of the next Old Colorado City History Center program Friday, April 10 at 11 a.m.
The speaker will be Diane Karlson, a museum professional and Old Colorado City Historical Society (OCCHS) volunteer, who will display antiquities in the museum's archives and tell how they came to be in the collection.
The cost for the hour-long presentation is $5 for non-OCCHS members. The volunteer organization owns and operates the History Center, at 1 S. 24th St.
Seating is limited. The center's doors will open at 10:30.
Discussing plans for her program recently, Karlson gave examples of items she will show, including red-light lamps used by famous Old Colorado City madam Laura Belle, a Sioux headdress from the late 1800s and a board game played by early Chinese residents.
Karlson, whose mother Joanne is a long-time OCCHS board member, has worked in museums since 1994 and most recently in Greeley.
