Merchants bring 'Mad Hatter' to Old Colorado City March 28

An "Alice in Wonderland" theme, including costumed characters from the book and a “white rabbit” in Bancroft Park, will be featured in Old Colorado City Saturday, March 28.
“Mad Hatter Saturday” is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. More than 20 merchants, identified with red balloons, will participate via in-store activities or merchandise sales, according to the Old Colorado City Associates (OCCA) business group's website, shopoldcoloradocity.com.
The website also lists “sidewalk events,” such as face painting, “Mad Hatter party hat-making stations” and entertainment by musician Shane Groothof and (from 1 to 3 p.m.) magician Zachary Paige.
Offered in Bancroft Park will be a “very merry unbirthday tea party” (11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1 to 2:30 p.m.) and the rabbit handing out Easter eggs. This will consist of “one egg per child, and the egg has the name of a shop inside,” OCCA event organizer Pam Gressett elaborated. “When they find the shop, they win a special prize there.”
