Mayor to highlight budget at town hall

Mayor Steve Bach's return-visit Westside town hall Tuesday, March 19 will feature a presentation on the 2014 budget by Chief Financial Officer Kara Skinner.
The informal event will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Colorado Springs Shrine Club, 6 S. 33rd St.
According to Cindy Aubrey of the Mayor's Office, Skinner's talk will be “the first one this year for citizens to give us input” on next year's budget. “We're hoping to have a thoughtful discussion on how the city should effectively and efficiently spend taxpayer money,” she said. “We'll have charts to show how the dollar is divvied up.”
Aubrey added that representatives of other departments will also be on hand to answer questions, and the mayor will do so as well.
This was also the case at the first Westside town hall by the mayor Feb. 19 at the Old Colorado City History Center, which drew such a large crowd that Bach told the audience he wanted to come back for another one in March.
Aubrey said that city departments at the event will include Police, Fire, Parks, Engineering, Transportation and Public Works (stormwater). “Generally [at such meetings], we have all the departments represented,” she said.
