Still waiting on building permit, library sends out some programs

With its temporary construction/closure date delayed, the Old Colorado City Branch Library is continuing to host most of its regular programs - although a few are starting to be held elsewhere.
Three this month are scheduled at other sites. These will be the following:
  • Tuesday, March 13, at 6:30 p.m. - Family Night at the Library, “Drumming Fun,” with Bob Hall playing African rhythms, at the West Center, 25 N. 20th St.
  • Thursday, March 22, at 11:30 a.m. - Old Colorado City Book Group, in the Community Room at Pikes Peak National Bank, 2401 W. Colorado Ave.
  • Wednesday, March 28, at 2 p.m. - Alanna Jones performance as part of community-wide Imagination Celebration activities, at the West Center.

The March 13 and 28 programs are scheduled at West for space reasons (larger-than-normal crowds are expected for both), while the monthly Book Group is scheduled to be meeting at the bank until the library work is done.
The library is slated to close for six months for major interior upgrades, once a building permit is in place. There is not yet a start date for the project..The $809,000 project is Phase 2 of an overall three-phase restoration effort.
