Celebrating Dr. Seuss with Dr. Ridder

Buena Vista students gathered in their gym March 2 to listen to District 11 Superintendent Dr. Norm Ridder read the Dr. Seuss book, “Hooray for Diffendoofer Day,” to honor the late author's 100th birthday.
The school also was celebrating its recent recognition from Colorado Governor Bill Owens for attaining a “Significantly Improved” rating as a result of last year's CSAP testing. According to Principal Alan Rasmussen, the upgrade stemmed from “intensified” efforts in reading, writing and math, including tutoring and summer school programs. “I think what's happened is the result of that work,” he said. “You don't get there overnight.”
