Police volunteer group seeks 'Ambassadors' to help OCC tourists, provide 'extra eyes'

Volunteers are being sought to help the Colorado Springs Police Department through its CAPS (Community Advancing Public Safety) program.
One of the needs is for “Ambassadors” in Old Colorado City on Fridays and Saturdays this summer. Trained by CAPS and provided with identifying apparel, the Ambassadors have the task of “welcoming shoppers, answering questions and providing helpful information about our city,” according to a CAPS press release. They will also be “inherently promoting public safety as extra 'eyes and ears' while walking on foot patrol in designated areas.”
In Old Colorado City, Ambassadors will be operating in conjunction with the Old Colorado City Associates (OCCA) business group.
The link to an online Ambassadors application form can be found at springscaps.org. For more information, call Kathy Rowlands at 444-7441.
