Cog train postcards... real and fanciful
In a talk on the Manitou & Pikes Peak (Cog) Railway at the Old Colorado City History Center Feb. 24, area historian Mel McFarland (left) displayed projections of postcards he has collected from about a century ago. One of these (right), appearing to show an old-time airplane soaring over the train at Pikes Peak’s summit, is clearly a fake, he pointed out. Among other deficiencies, the flying machine lacks an engine!
