West plans three-part fundraiser March 6

An auction, spaghetti dinner and musical concerts will highlight a West Middle School fundraising event Thursday, March 6.
Activities will start with the dinner starting at 5 p.m. in the school cafeteria, followed by the silent auction from 5:30 to about 8:30 in the gym and performances by the school choir and orchestra from 6:30 to about 8 p.m. in the auditorium.
The public is invited. Tickets are $3 in advance (in the school office or from parents/students), or $5 on the day of the event. The school is at 1920 W. Pikes Peak Ave. The phone is 328-3900.
Kelly Darby, one of several parent organizers, said the goal is to raise money to help cover the costs of school field trips and general classroom activities.
She thanked Westsiders and other business people for their generosity in donating for the dinner ingredients (parents will do the cooking) and auction items.
She estimated the total value of those items at $5,500, including Air Force football tickets, Royal Gorge Railroad tickets, massages, restaurant gift certificates, a studio portrait sitting and a home gym. It will mostly be a silent auction, with a few items being offered live (possibly by a student), said Darby, who has two students in West's SAIL program.
