Westside schools:
Public invited to use West recycle bins

Veronica Jaquez, volunteer coordinator for West Middle School, would like people to know that there are numerous ways to help out at the school.
One way is to donate old magazines, newspapers and cardboard for the school's recycling program. Two bins (one for cardboard, the other for papers and magazines) are in the parking lot across the street from school. “Anyone can drop off these items at any time,” Jacquez said. “The school only gets money for them if it is over a one-ton weight weight limit for the month.”
Also needed is volunteer help with school activities, including sewing and mending sports uniforms, assisting in art classes, baking cookies for school events and helping students with their writing.
“Every little bit of time donated makes an impact,” Jacquez said.
For more information, contact her at jaquevs@d11.org or leave a message in the West office at 328-3900.
Any person or business wanting to volunteer must fill out a registration form. These forms are available in the school office or at www.d11.org/volunteers.
