McFarland to give train talk at OCCHS Feb. 19
Area train historian Mel McFarland will describe a ride on the early Colorado Midland Railway in two talks at the Old Colorado City History Center Saturday, Feb.
The first will begin at 11 a.m., the second at 2 p.m. Both are free (although donations are welcome) and open to the public.
Owned and operated by the non-profit Old Colorado City Historical Society (OCCHS), the center is at 1 S. 24th St.
The Colorado Midland, started in 1887 and headquartered in Colorado City, traveled up Ute Pass and through the mountains to Grand Junction.
Because large audiences usually attend McFarland's programs, reservations are suggested. The center is open Tuesdays through Saturdays. 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the phone is 636-1225.
