Westside schools:
Midland book drive through Feb. 17

Midland Elementary is seeking donations for its library's second annual “Love A Book” drive, continuing through Feb. 17.
“Any and all donations are appreciated,” said school librarian Amanda Thompson, but a $15 contribution “will allow us to purchase a book for our library in your name, your business's name, pet, child, etc.”
If requested, the donor's name will be portrayed on a plate on the book's inside cover.
Another goal of the drive is to purchase electronic resources for the library. “Through Title 1 funds, we were able to order all kinds of new technology, including iPads and laptops,” she said, adding that related materials must be bought by the school, which has limited funds due to budget cuts. “What we need now are e-resources and applications to make the most of these devices for learning.”
Donations can be made online at d11.org/midland (click on the “Love a Book” link on the Midland home page), or with checks/cash mailed or delivered to Midland Elementary, 2110 Broadway Street, Colorado Springs 80904. (Checks should be made out to “Funds4Books”).
For more information, call the school at 328-4500.
