Cimarron bridge demo date: Feb. 26

The start of demolition for the Cimarron Bridge is tentatively set Feb. 26.
Bill Badger of COSMIX contractor Rockrimmon Constructors said this week that the work will follow a week of preparation effort including crews placing concrete barriers and electrical subcontractors disconnecting electrical vaults below the bridge.
The barrier placement will require a full nighttime closure of the bridge, which is now scheduled Monday, Feb. 19, Badger said.
A previous closure, scheduled overnight Feb. 6, was cancelled because of a lack of manpower resources at that time, he said.
The bridge has been reduced to two lanes because of structural problems since August. It is to remain open that way during the project, which will last through the year but allow four lanes of traffic sometime in the summer.
