Garden’s dinosaur subject of presentation Feb. 8

As part of the Garden of the Gods Visitor & Nature Center's Sunday lecture series Feb. 8, Melissa Walker, program coordinator at the city's Starsmore Discovery Center, will talk about the skeleton of a unique dinosaur species (Theiophytalia kerri) that was found in the 1800s within the Garden boundaries.
Scheduled from 2 to 3:30 p.m., “The Forgotten Dinosaur” will discuss “how an 1878 dinosaur discovered in the Garden of the Gods was lost and forgotten, then rediscovered at the Yale Museum over 100 years later, and eventually was identified as a brand new dinosaur species,” a Visitor Center press release states.
Walker will also speak about the research for the prehistoric landscape murals at the Visitor Center. For more information, call 634-6666.
