Just $138,500 left to go in Westside Center fundraising

In the partial week since it was announced, the fundraising drive to save the Westside Community Center has brought in $1,500, according to its leader, Dave Hughes.
The target is $140,000 to cover center costs for 2010 after city funding runs out March 31.
The city-owned center provides a variety of programs, classes, activities and events for people of all ages.
Funding for it and the other three city community centers was cut in the 2010 budget because of lack of funds.
People wanting to donate for the cause can mail or carry checks to the Old Colorado City History Center, 1 S. 24th St. A “Save Our Community Center Fund” has been established by the Old Colorado City Historical Society (OCCHS), the non-profit group that owns and operates the center.
Online donations can also be made, using a link on the OCCHS website: history.oldcolo.com.
