Police Beat

       The following reports of recent Westside crimes were extracted/edited from the City of Colorado Springs police blotter:
       Jan. 24, 3 p.m. Gold Hills Patrol Division located a suspected meth lab in the 1700 block of West Bijou Street. Members of the Metro VNI Clandestine Laboratory Response Team (CLRT) responded and executed a search warrant at the described address. The team recovered items consistent with the production of methamphetamine. Two arrest warrants are pending for unlawful manufacture of a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of chemicals/supplies to manufacture a Schedule II controlled substance and possession of precursors to manufacture a Schedule II controlled substance.
       Jan. 22, 5 p.m. A man walked into the US Bank at 1125 W. Garden of the Gods Road and announced a robbery. The investigation is being handled by both the FBI and the City Police Departments Robbery Unit. The amount of money obtained is unknown at this time. No one was hurt. The suspect was wearing a trench coat and described as a black male, 6-foot-3.
       Jan. 18, 7:07 a.m. Officers were dispatched to 408 W. Kiowa St. on a possible hostage situation. The person making the call for service told officers three or four males made entry at gunpoint into the house, demanding money. The intruders searched the house for money they knew one of the victims had. Threats were made towards victims and eventually the money the suspects were looking for was given to them. Afterward, the suspects left. No one was injured. Investigation is ongoing. Descriptions were given but were not very descriptive or distinct.
