Crackseal work on Colorado Ave. to start Jan. 31

Colorado Avenue between 31st Street and Cascade Avenue is scheduled for crackseal repairs the week of Jan. 31 to Feb. 4.
Private work crews, contracted through Colorado Springs Street Division, are slated to be working between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. those days.
Crackseal is a process in which a pavement sealer is injected into cracks so water does not get in and expand them into potholes, according to Bill Hellwig, clerk dispatch for the Street Division.
Some lane closures can be expected, but only about 100 yards either way. Flaggers will direct drivers, he said.
The work schedule depends on the weather. If there is significant moisture, the pavement seal does not stick as well, Hellwig said.
