Holmes places 14 in district judging for annual Reflections arts competition

       Holmes Middle School students garnered 14 of the 19 places by District 11 middle-schoolers in the annual El Paso Council PTA's Reflections Art Program judging.
       The Holmes placers are:
       Visual Arts - second, Stephanie Boyd; third, Atraya Christiansen; honorable mention, Seneca Montez de Oca.
       Photography - third, Gunnar Ulrich; honorable mention, Brycen Hurt; honorable mention, Michael Warnock.
       Literature - first, Avery Young; second, Sean Smith; honorable mention, Atraya Christiansen; honorable mention, Meghan Lawson.
       Film Production - second, Andrew Merz; third, Julia Solano.
       Dance Choreography - honorable mention, Emily Culbertson.
       Music Composition - honorable mention, Sarah Abercrombie.
       An extracurricular program, Reflections encourages students in expressing themselves through the arts. “Arts education is important as it not only cultivates imagination, self-expression and creativity, but also plays an important role in the development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills,” a press release states.
       State competition will occur later in the semester. The winning state entry in each category/division will compete at the national level.
