Meet a Westsider:
Gail Juliano

Profession/Occupation... owner of bohemian consignment clothing store, La Bohe’me Gypsy Bazaar.

What I like most about the Westside is... its history. I was born and raised and keep coming back here. It’s familiar. I feel safe in its somewhat quirky character, and I especially love the many locally owned businesses.

If I could change anything about the Westside, it would be... to drive away the few franchises that are beginning to creep in.

A good movie I’ve seen recently is... “Chocolat,” for the 19th time. The heroine is strong, scrappy and vulnerable and it has a kind of magical quality.

The worst advice I’ve ever gotten was... “Don’t do it!”

If I could meet someone famous, I’d like to meet... Oprah Winfrey – a great modern-day role model.

The next time I travel, I’m going to... Disneyland!

My favorite childhood memory is... spending pennies on candy at the tiny grocery store on 17th Street and Colorado Avenue on the way to school. And on the way home. And at lunch time.

My favorite winter pastime is... Jammies and anything... hot chocolate, reading, TV, working at my desk, deer-watching out my window. Anything and jammies, yup!

Something good I’ve read is.. “Make It Big! 49 Secrets for Building a Life of Extreme Success,” by Frank Mckinney.

My pet peeve is... lack of human connection, lack of individualism, lack of responsibility, lack of motivation, lack of creativity, lack of courage, lack of honesty so prevalent in our mall-centered, corporate culture.

If I won the lottery, I’d... be really, really, really surprised! I’ve never bought a lottery ticket!
