Aid sought for Castle West fire victims
Editor’s note: The Westside Pioneer was copied on an e-mail Jan. 17 that contained the following appeal: Merchants of Old Colorado City - As I am sure you are all aware, Colorado Springs has suffered one of the worst fire disasters in our history (the Castle West Apartment fire Jan. 16). Some 300 families are without a place to live, or even the basic necessities of life. Some of these families escaped with only their pajamas and not even shoes on their feet. I would like to see the merchants of Old Colorado City step up and offer financial assistance through the American Red Cross to these residents. I propose merchants offer to take 5 to 10 percent of their sales through the end of January 2007 and donate it through the OCCA to the Red Cross. I would like to have this started by Friday, Jan. 19, with signs in our windows.. If you are interested, please contact my wife, Lorraine Jensen at A Touch of Home, 2522A W. Co-lorado Ave, 632-0332, atouchofhome@hotmail.com. Thank you. Bill Jensen A Touch of Home |
