Finally, a photo of Betty
A photo of Betty Osborne, wife of Bill Osborne, has surfaced. (She is the one walking out from the front door. The other people in the photo are not identified). The Osbornes, both of whom died in 1985, ran a Rexall Drug store for years in Old Colorado City and started the Osborne Trust Fund, the interest from which annually provides well over $100,000 to charity organizations on the Westside, up Ute Pass and into Teller County. A June 22 Westside Pioneer article about the fund (which is administrated by the Garden of the Gods Rotary Club) lamented the lack of pictures of the Osbornes. Bonnie and Harold Smith, who had worked on volunteer projects with the couple in the 1970s, responded several months later by bringing over an old newspaper photo showing Bill Osborne (which appeared in the Oct. 26 Pioneer); “I wish I had a picture of Betty,” Bonnie said at the time. Your wish has been granted, Bonnie. Looking through his photo collection, Westside resident (and regular Pioneer reader) Jim High found this snapshot, taken around 1980, and brought it in.
